Hey, common ground! Gotta love that.
I do have some issues with your last paragraph, though:
Meeting women has always been an intergalactic f*cking shitshow. Brutal. But I’m not convinced it’s actually worse now. For instance, nowadays there seems to be more honesty. When I was a kid, no did not necessarily mean no. There were certain norms and codes — “no” might mean “no forever,” “no for now,” “I have to say no for various reasons, but please ask again later!” and more. Navigating that was not fun.
Women have always had funky reactions. Admittedly, the stakes for making a clumsy or ill-timed pass appear to be higher now, and that’s unfortunate — but well deserved. We’ve been shitty to them for so long it’s a miracle they haven’t written us off entirely.
I look at the manosphere and see nothing but assholes who deserve to suffer alone for all of their days.
The ball is in our court. No one has a right to be loved. Every man has to ask himself if he can say goodbye to misogyny and deserve to be.
Mind you, there are plenty of female shitheads in the world. Even being a great partner is no guarantee she’ll be one to you. That’s the price of admission. Kinda sucks, but people are people. A woman has been expected to tolerate her man’s misbehavior for centuries.
As for the dating apps, I think you missed the point of the article: it’s not that they might not work, it’s that they can’t. If you’re in the bottom 75% of men, the math says they do more harm than good.
Turning to Tinder when you’re striking out in real life is like saying, “I can’t walk because my foot hurts, so I’ll just bash it repeatedly with a hammer and see if that helps.”
As for souring attitudes, it’s fine to give up on dating, but 101% unacceptable to give up on women as a group. Meeting some black or gay people you don’t like isn’t permission to be a racist or homophobe. Same rules apply.
I have hope for the younger generations, but it’s time to admit that social media is a wretched hive of scum and villainy, and nothing in cyberspace is real. Humans evolved to exist in meatspace. The internet is approximately as healthy for human life as the surface of Mars.
