As a classical musician myself, I despair sometimes - the sheer level of talent and training required to survive in the classical world isn't just more than for pop musicians, but several quantum leaps more. The same is true though to a lesser extent for jazz musicians. But what sells tickets is some combination of D cups, dance routines, and a sound divorced from actual performance by levels of production.

I like pop music, but let it be something that can be reproduced on stage by the members playing actual instruments with minimal electronics. But hey, I'm an old man, maybe this is a lawn situation.
