Black bears killed about one person every other year for the last century, almost all of those the human’s fault. Grizzly bears are more dangerous, but again, most attacks are the fault of the victim.

Whatever people think of the statement, the math is clear that a bear is safer than a human. Unlike people they’re very predictable, don’t see humans as prey, and just want to get on with their lives. It shouldn’t even be controversial.
