But the data makes it clear - this IS a left-right issue, whether it should be or not.

Eliminating hate is an excellent idea, but it has to start from the top, from those who currently have the power. A trans kid has every reason in the world to hate the Christian Right and the Republican Party, folks who deny others' very right to exist.

The most entitled people in America are the wealthy, straight white Christian men. That means the poor have good reason to hate the right, LGBT to hate the religious, Black to hate the white, non-Christians to hate the Christians, women to hate men.

Oppression breeds anger. If you kick a dog every day, don't blame the dog when he bites you. If you want to diminish the hate in the world, the people who inspire it have to go first...but instead it feels like they're doubling down.
