I can't find a good argument against your first paragraph.

Capitalism is tricky. It appears to be the only thing that works - well, kind of works - but it's also morally reprehensible in its pure form. It must be dampened with socialism or it burns everything down.

And I agree, money does taint everything it touches. Politics becomes unrepresentative and dishonest. Churches lose focus on moral issues when they get tied up in money or politics. How would Jesus feel about fleecing the flock?
