I disagree. When the country is fractured, politics becomes a critical part of each person. If you say, "I'm a Republican," that tells me volumes about you and changes how I see you. It's not irrelevant. For example, I don't want a Christian nationalist party in charge. It's important for me to know if you do. I have LGBTQ+ friends and colleagues who I consider to be fully human and full citizens. It's important to me if you don't. Politics is never honest, but if you belong to a party built on falsehood, I need to know that.
