I don’t envision tanks in the streets. But given the rightwing tilt of law enforcement, even “blue” states will have issues with police crackdowns and misconduct, even in the face of state and local governments.

Also, expect conservative counties to rebel and openly defy state law. We already get some of that in WA and large swaths of CA. There’s really no such thing as a blue state, only blue areas surrounded by red, so there will be significant activity.

If the GOP seizes the federal government they will punish states or cities that try to reform police (already happening in red states), restrict guns, or in any way attempt to crack down on “conservatives.”

They’ll facilitate activity by private militias and allow rural sheriffs and police departments to openly flout state law (we saw quite a bit of this, even in blue WA). Expect to see federal agents appear uninvited to disrupt protests in blue cities (“disappearing” protesters in Portland).

I expect significant problems throughout the country. State lines will not be much protection.
