I haven't heard some of these for ages, thanks. I've been in a cycle of radio/iTunes/classical and haven't been digging into the old catalog enough.

The main criticism of Rick's voice is always that while it sounds like Gilmour's, it lacks the energy and ends up sounding sort of "lifeless."

On the one hand, they harmonize together great. On the other, his particular timbre/tone/delivery actually makes it effective if properly used.

"Summer of '68" and "Stay" are good examples of where a gentle, melancholy delivery is perfect.

Having him sing the response verses on "Time" was genius - Gilmour belts out the first half aggressively, then Wright delivers the more melancholy response gently and sadly. It's better than having Glmour do both sets and having Waters do it would be a disaster.
