I know many lovely Christians who keep an open mind and tease out the positive aspects of religion to make themselves better, more compassionate and caring people. This whole "God said it, I believe it, and that settles it" mentality when they can't even unambiguously explain what God supposedly said? That's no way to run a railroad, as my dad used to say.
