I'd say it makes you a sensible soul with whom a big chunk of Americans agree.

Neil Peart once described himself as a bleeding heart libertarian, which is not bad. Give everybody the chance to live a dignified life and butt out of each others' affairs. Have the government do the things only a large entity like the government can.

It doesn't seem that controversial, except Big Money and Big Religion want to keep you under their thumbs...
