If I were him, I'd set up overseas somewhere. The GOP hasn't been shy about throwing the whole weight of the federal government against a private citizen, who, it turns out, didn't do anything so terrible as all that. If things go sideways and they need a whipping boy to distract Wee da Peepul, there's no reason to assume they won't go after him again.
