I’m curious about what you mean by “called out.” A lot of y’all are awfully damn entitled, demanding the right to behave however you want with no consequences.
And that ain’t how the world works.
I once had a guy ramble on and on about the “persecution” he felt. I suggested that if he were nice to people and stopped trying to jam his faith in everybody’s face, there’d be much less persecution. He said he found that unthinkable.
So, fine — but it isn’t persecution if you bring it on yourself. He was being a jerk, and people didn’t like it — that’s actions having completely reasonable consequences.
Are you going to get snark no matter how well you behave? Hell yes. Step aside and see it from an outsider’s perspective: objectively speaking, you’re talking about a 2000-year-old apocalyptic death cult that uses a Roman torture device as its logo. If you aren’t a member of the faith and read the Bible in logical terms, it’s 1000 pages of gibberish.
Before you complain about that assessment, consider we’re not that different — if there are 4000 religions on Earth, we agree on 3999 of them, a difference of 0.025%. And I’m probably more tolerant in general since I don’t care what any of them think, so long as they keep me out of it.
My concept of freedom applies to me: get the boot off my neck. Conservative Christians’ idea of freedom also applies to me: they demand the right to keep it there.
And that, in my book, is being a $#!+ person, and deserving of any abuse they take.
