I’m not sure why agriculture practices for both animals and vegetables are as destructive as they are. It seems intentionally and unnecessarily cruel, almost out of spite, as if it has the secondary purpose of imposing our will on nature. There are better ways to do all of it

My first thought is that would be hard to work into the story, though it could have been done. My critiques of capitalism are many and intense — at what point is it better to simply be put to the sword young and get it over with? But this was intended to be a quick hitter, a few hundred words and out, there wasn’t really time. You’re not wrong, though.
