Interesting that you went the misogynistic-insult-and-violent-analogy route there at the end.

It has to be indicative of something. I write an article claiming the right is violent — consisting of nothing but words and containing no threats against anyone — and you come back with me being a “bitch” who will get his ass kicked.

I think it speaks volumes.

It’s also weird you’re equating being called names with political violence. That seems kinda soft for somebody who wants to come off as hard. If someone calls you names, come back at them that way.

But it’s not just name-calling, of course. Is the right racist? Most Black people think so. If you define “sexist” as opposing gender equality, there’s no question the right is sexist. You aren’t shy about it.

The right sure does have a fondness for fascists like Putin, Orban, Bolsonaro, etc. And Trump, who is an unabashed authoritarian, crony capitalist, anti-democratic proponent of political violence. It’s not a conspiracy theory or anything, he said it into cameras and microphones.

It’s weird when conservatives call the left racist or sexist. The GOP is ~90% white, vs. ~54% for the Democrats. Almost every Black elected official in the U.S. is a Democrat. Literally. In the entire country. There are 62 African-American members of Congress, 59 of them are Democrats.

56% of women identify as Democrats vs. 38% Republican. ~75% of Republican men believe “the United States has grown too soft and feminine.” There are currently 145 women serving in Congress, 106 of them Democrats.

Also, I can’t let these pass unless you’re under 40 and haven’t studied the history of political bullying: Newt Gingrich and Rush Limbaugh perfected the current climate of bullying, insults, and “call your opponent evil” politics decades ago.

If liberals have started doing it, too, it’s no surprise. How many years of “Feminazi,” “liberalism is a mental disorder,” being called “the party of death” and all the rest did you think the left was going to take before they came back at you? And what does it say when they finally did you want to respond with violence? If you’re gonna dish it out, you should be able to take it.

Conservative white Christian men have traditionally held almost all the power in the U.S. They haven’t just been bullies, they had a boot on everyone else’s neck. They haven’t been kind, they’ve been brutal. Now they still have most of it, but other people have actually gained a little. Nothing like equality, mind you, but some. Now the white guys are freaking out. Chill. America 2.0 is coming. Embrace it, and people will stop picking on you.

For comments on why some non-Christians are pissed off, you can try this, this, and this.

For a discussion of how a middle-aged white guy (that would be me) has been working on understanding racism, you can try Damn It, Do You Have to Find Racism In Everything?

To get a handle on sexism, just look anywhere. The Bible is an excellent place to start. Or, since abortion is in the news, why do women take the blame and men skate? Why are men expected to be promiscuous and women get the scarlet letter? There’s also the MeToo stuff and the earlier comment about America becoming too feminine. Just turn over a rock and look.

Happy thinking and growing.
