It's a problem - as any nature documentary will point out, the female base instinct is to seek out and be impregnated by a high-status male. The male instinct is to jump on anything that's offered.

In other words, throughout most of the animal kingdom males are promiscuous and potentially violent, females are choosy sexual gatekeepers. Sounds familiar.
