It's weird, yes, but deeply unsettling. Undocumented people aren't vermin. Police shouldn't bang the heads of arrestees when putting them in the squad car. There are so many examples, large and small.

Why can hurting or humiliating someone else have so much intrinsic value? It's like listening to aliens.
