"Lots of conservative women think liberalism is saying women are victims who can't achieve,"

It's true conservative and liberal women differ in many ways, so a union might not sit well. It's certainly true that the right has so effectively demonized the left that a union might be unthinkable.

"or that they should bite the hand that feeds them-- rich men. Dealing with those men is the way to make money and achieve personal freedom."

That's been the traditional path, so it makes sense.

"They don't see that the playing field is not level or they don't believe anything can be done about it. OR they're women who are more loyal to their husband than women, thinking he pays for her and her kids, that family peace is more important than being right."

I don't know how young people think now, but I grew up in a world where equality was considered a negative. Go to college to meet men and get your Mrs. degree. Let him run things, quash your ambition or at least never let them cast shade on him because he has "pride" and must always feel like "the man of the family." Work with him if you can and around him if you can't, but kids and family come first. I'm sure in large swaths of the country those attitudes have never been questioned, much less died.

Then there's a religious tradition in which the various Supreme Beings have decreed women deserve their lesser status.

And, to be honest, being lesser is a whole lot easier. Being in charge of things is a PITA. How many of these whiny dudes who demand to be a patriarch actually have that in them?
