Now, about this "you're cool with violence because your side did it":

I deleted my original response because it was profane. Are you such a terrible person that you immediately think everybody on the other side is evil? I had a guy tell me I must sit by my TV and cheer every time a cop is injured. I'm not a ****ing monster. Based on his comments, I think he might cheer every time a protester was injured, but I'm not going to assume it even if he actually gave that impression

Those people aren't "my" side - unrest is dangerous and destructive, and I don't want to see any of it. But it's not political violence. It's not intended to intimidate. It's anger plus asshat anarchists causing trouble. Send in the cops and break it up, but as humanely as possible.

Do you realize that I don't think I could find anybody I know who thinks rioting and looting are good things? That's who the left is - we understand why people are angry but don't condone violence.

It is possible to hold two different ideas in your head at one time. Or at least I can. In fact, there is no black and white in this world, everything is shades of gray, a bit of this and a bit of that. Absolutism leads to trouble.

Now, I know the Fox News and Friends want to say 1/6 was no big deal, but that only means you haven't actually looked into it. Turn off the right-wing media and think for a minute. Watch the video. Listen to what's being said. Also, that wasn't my only example.

I know I'm not living up to your cartoon version of us, but I've never met a conservative whose opinion of liberals was even slightly recognizable to me. How do you guys know anything about us when you clearly don't know any of us? Almost every liberal I've known is kindhearted and a bit soft-headed. They want the best for everyone.

The whole philosophy is based on the idea that we all need to look out for everyone else and government should work for that end.

You notice how Republicans in Congress focus entirely on their own people, while the Democrats try to pass laws they think will help everyone? Liberalism is about bringing infrastructure, healthcare, and the benefits of modern life to the whole country...even Republicans who hate us with a white-hot fury, and will use their better and longer lives to vote against us - and hate us - at every turn. Does it feel good to see my tax dollars go to people who don't want me to exist? No. But I do it anyway because they are people and they are Americans, and the point is to make things better for everyone.

Get top know some people. Stop believing the cartoon. Twitter and conservative media are 99% unreliable: one is full of crazies - I just had a back and forth with a guy who claims Democrats are still the party of racism(???) - the other is lying to you.
