Shhh! Don’t drag logic into a religion argument, it never ends well.

But yeah, almost every tragedy on Earth has some religious component. How many ethnic/sectarian wars have raged or are currently ongoing? Most autoritarians use religion either honestly or cynically (see Putin, V and Tr*mp, D among many others).

What the people who throw around the crimes of "atheist" governments don't want to hear is that the real common denominator is autoritarianism/dictatorship/etc.: the Christian Nazis slaughtered Jews, the USSR was about as far from the Marxist ideal as possible, modern-day China is kicking ass in capitalism. The proclaimed form of a government is less important than it's actual form.
