So say that. But don’t claim that one off-color joke reduces you to the level of the “quiet guy who kept to himself” but was actually dining on missing persons. I can’t take that seriously, so why would I care about the rest?

It’s the kind of thing I’d write in a satire article. In fact, I am, with this line as the jumping-off point. So thanks for that.

However, I did actually read the whole thing. The “look at me!” intellectual language was a tad offputting but did have me chuckling throughout. I think your writing would be more effective if you replaced the 50¢ words and soaring rhetoric with logic and clear statements.

I mean, you say, “Wokeness is only one variety of perverse revolts against natural norms, just one indulgence in daydream-laden games that mean nothing in the long run.” But that’s about it. What do you mean, exactly? What do you present as evidence? Or is this just a writing exercise?

So I’d say your idea doesn’t hold water, but I’m not quite sure what it was. I’m not sure anything was proved other than you have access to a thesaurus.

So, I’m left to guess. What are the natural norms you’re lamenting? That the straight white man should be elevated back to his place as rightful leader? That women should step back and be more submissive? That marginalized communities should be more tolerant of the slights and insults they’ve had to bear? What exactly is so intolerable?

When I was younger, criticism for using the n-word or groping your secretary were considered intolerably “woke,” though we didn’t yet have the word. Maybe insults and derogatory language should go away. Is this the next logical step? In the future, will we look back and see them as we see the 1950s now?

I’d be interested in reading these sorts of questions for an obviously intelligent person such as yourself.
