That's a perspective, thanks for sharing.

I agree men created the mess and so have the responsibility to fix it. I also acknowledge it would be hard for a woman, especially a conservative one, to let go of the security she has to throw in her lot with people she disagrees with on a lot of topics.

Is it too much to ask men to get on the same page as women? Yes.

For one, the powerful almost never give up their power voluntarily. For another, we have a social and religious tradition of female inferiority that men a raised in. Until men start getting messages that the tide is turning, they'll have no motivation to think differently. They're cocooned in a world that doesn't challenge them — and part of that challenge will have to be women. But not just any women, but the ones nearest them.

It's absolutely legit to criticize me for judging from a position of privilege. If you notice, the tone of the article is questioning — I want to know. As a middle-aged straight white non-Christian liberal, there's a lot I don't understand. But from a logical and historical perspective, equality has to come from men but they won't change without being challenged.
