The lack of concept of proportion I run into with (damn near every) conservative I’ve ever talked to drives me bonkers. I think I was pretty clear that in fact “both sides do it” and that that is not a good thing in many cases. I’m not trying to say that doing something less than someone else exonerates you, the point is that the world isn’t black and white, divided into those who do and those who don’t. But sometimes two related things may both be wrong, but one is exponentially worse and that should be made clear. As for BLM, as I recall there was violence at only 7% of BLM events, and typically it was not necessarily perpetrated by BLM members. So looting a store and beating a cop to death are both wrong, but I think reasonable people can agree they are not equivalent, either legally or morally.
