The thing that got me was the "third world" bit. Do you mean going out and finding some poor girl with no education, money, or prospects? In that case, of course they'd be happy to show attention to an American who could save them from that. But the power dynamics at play are awful. She's going to be completely helpless and entirely dependent on her husband. She'll most likely come from a tradition where knuckling under to your man is the norm so she probably won't think to complain no matter how badly she's treated. Even if her new husband treats her well, there will always be this imbalance hanging over everything – he can basically discard her anytime he chooses and there's not much she can do about it.

That's not a partnership, that's halfway to ownership. Am I missing something, or is that the goal?
