There has been much discussion over the years about why certain people turned to Tr*mp. Most of it has talked about economic issues, "the forgotten man", political outsiders losing trust in the system, and so on.

But in the background is the truth the Serious People don't want to talk about: the studies showing he won for the exact reasons the radical progressive lunatic extremist out of their mind batshit crazy weirdo liberals always said - it was the straight white Christian patriarchy panicking at the thought of losing a country they see as rightfully theirs.

Of course, nobody wants to talk about that, because the only thing Serious People hate more than being wrong is liberals being right. So we have to put up with people nodding sagely when someone says they "don't like Trump but they like his policies." But of course they can't explain why, because the reason is distasteful.
