There's a school of thought in the South that the Confederacy never officially surrendered, this is just the longest cease-fire in history. So I say the USA immediately and unconditionally surrenders. "So long, boys, and good luck."
A few problems:
1) We should set up an exchange program where conservatives in the USA swap homes with a liberal in the CSA.
2) When the chip are down, I don't think the politicians down there will go through with it, because they can't actually afford to go it alone. We get that a lot in the PNW, where the conservative counties in Oregon and Washington on the east side of the Cascades want to split off. But they survive on subsidies from Seattle, Portland, and the other blue cities along I-5. There's a movement to join Idaho, but Idaho can't afford to take them on. I'm not convinced red America could stay in the developed world without blue cities.
3) If they did split and I'm right about the economy, they'd be back hat in hand for money and we wouldn't be able to help ourselves from helping them. But at least they could take their regressive politics with them.
