These days I hear guys describing themselves as "Lions." Maybe what they really mean is they want to be big and lay around as a harem of females fetches them food.
Both of my parents were university professors, we had to learn to fend for ourselves. I enjoy cooking and took it on as one of my primary chores. I married a woman with no interest in domesticity, so I do most of the cooking and cleaning around here.
I knew a woman who was in dating a man who lived at home his whole life. That sounds hazardous, but before she married him, she made him live for a year by himself to prove he could. Very practical lady.
I read a post a while back that made sense. It said there's nothing wrong with wanting to be a patriarch as long as your wife is cool with it. But if you're going to do it, BE a patriarch. Take charge. Handle things. Provide without complaining. If you want to be an old style, male head of household, lead the goddamn household. But that's seriously hard work. Frankly, having a wife as a partner and sharing the load sounds a lot easier if you can get your ego out of the way.
