Though it's true that males are wired differently in almost all species — every female is a potential mating partner.

Also, setting your heart on a girl and being shot down is hard. We're supposed to make the first move and take the ego risks, then just step back and surrender if she says no…except when we aren't. I see plenty of "cute old couple" stories where he just kept after her and wouldn't take no for an answer. Now they've been married for 50 years and everybody applauds.

Except that if it doesn't work out, it's sexual harassment. Love is hard.

All that being said, I have to remind my fellow guys that we have to accept her decisions. We don't have any right to the partner we want — or any at all — without her say so. If you're friend zoned, so be it.

Personally, I enjoy the company of women as friends, but I'm a "one-to-one" kind of guy: I've never cheated or even come particularly close, so all other women are in my friend zone, even the ones who've clearly wanted more. (At least back when I was a bit more of a catch...)
