What you don’t mention is that the “extreme left” doesn’t hold much power in a Democratic Party that is run almost entirely by moderates. On the GOP side, the extremists are now the mainstream and own the party.

In other words, the two parties are not equal in any way.

It’s a good time to point out that polls indicate there are very, very few true moderates. Most are actually partisans who play act at being independent.

Which goes to one of my basic principles of life: anyone who tries to equate the parties is actually just a conservative. Because the parties aren’t comparable.
