"Ya ain't pretty, ya ain't a girl."

Men are strange creatures. They ogle women, but freak out if a gay man looks at them. Come to think of it, they freak out over gay men in general. They pitch a fit over women who aren't womanly enough. There's a weird insecurity and fragility to what is supposed to be the stronger sex. You constantly have to fight or display aggression or you're a "pussy." I never understood it.

Where the angry women come from is less clear. Some of it is surely social media-inspired "go to your corner"-ism. Once you've taken a position and been criticized, then that's who you are.

I have a theory that conservatism is a mind virus that searches for a gap in your defenses, then wriggles in and eats your brain. Any day now, Rowling may be standing for MP as a Tory.
