You've got conservatives sugar-coating US history and refusing to put new pages into the history books. You've got a majority so afraid they laughably imagine minorities pose any threat. We have good old fashioned discrimination by the majority because it's in their best interest. Liberals are trying to allow mom, dad, family, and every gender to flourish in their own way. Social media and tech companies have silenced the right so thoroughly it's possible to go literal minutes without some conservative shouting into a microphone. Oh, the humanity.
But if someone is determined to be upset because they actually have been a victim and the entire system really is against them, don't you see how pushing back on this could be a bad recipe for social progress? Why view racism, sexism, and homophobia as positives?
Out of the two parties, isn't it OBVIOUS who actually supports free speech and the constitution? For free speech, yes. I've been following politics for four decades, and the right is the all-time leader in speech suppression. The only difference is they just aren't the only ones doing it anymore. As for the Constitution, nobody respects it. The left pushes against its limitations, and the right only claims to care about it when it suits their agenda. I mean, the only mention of religion in the whole thing is no establishment of religion, and the right's response is to establish Christianity as the state religion? What's up with that?
There is another way to stop protests - deal with the problems that cause protests.
Look, you have your point of view, and that's fine. I will loudly defend your right to have it. But don't make silly arguments, and for heaven's sake get more accurate sources of information.
It isn't half the country that wants to "go back." America is getting browner and less religious. Women's rights, gay rights, and racial equality are largely popular. The right is fighting to maintain the status quo against the tide of public opinion.
If you support the status quo, just say so. If you want a Christianist theocracy, be loud and proud about it. Keep women below men in gender relations, push LGBT people back into the closet, halt the social progress for minority races and religions. That's fine, it's a legit point of view - just not a popular one.
The wealthy white Christian patriarchy has always made the rules. Even in the supposed liberal cancel culture era, it's still the right doing most of the canceling. Someday, America may see the rise of a far-right Caesar who is going to make Trump look like the most tolerant person ever, but that was inevitable once the establishment was truly threatened.
P.S. Forgot to say: love the "pussy" reference. If you're going to be misogynist, wave that flag with all your might.
